During Ford's Total Performance marketing campaign in the 1960s, Ford's Fairlane GT and GTA were equipped with a 390/335 HP V-8 engine, the GTA using a C6 3-speed automatic transmission, hence the “A” in GTA. This particular 1966 Fairlane GTA is all business featuring a rebuilt 390 V-8 with Holley 4-barrel carburetor, rebuilt C6 transmission, powder-coated rear axle housing with 31-spline axles and 3.91:1 rear gearing with Nodular N case.
Retaining its original sheet meal, the car is presented in Springtime Yellow on black interior with bucket seats and a console. Benefiting from a new exhaust system, new interior including carpet, headliner, door panels and dash cluster, the car also hosts a new fuel tank and lines, new front and rear bumpers, new upper and lower control arms, new front and rear shocks, new front and rear brakes with new lines and new radiator, belt and hoses. Riding on color-matched steel wheels with dog-dish hubcaps all wrapped by blackwall tires, it's an exceptional example of a Total Performance Fairlane.
