The Simca 8 Sport, based on the older Fiat 1100 chassis was a relative success for Simca. When the Aronde arrived it used a monocoque chassis which made the use of different bodies more difficult, therefore the sport version of the Aronde was only available as a coupé. Made by Facel, the Simca 9 Sport was outrageously expensive and cost more than a Porsche 356.
A hand built aluminium body and details such as the three dimensional Jaeger instruments and chrome ornamentation inside the car reveals the incredible attention to detail of Facel-Vega and its founder Jean Daninos. Only around 96 cars is believed to have been built before the Coupé de Ville succeeded it.
The car on offer has a nice patina thanks to an ancient but quality restoration. The dark green paint is in nice condition and attractively complements the biscuit-colored leather interior. The chrome is also in nice condition and the Robergel wheel rims gave a sporty touch to its elegant design.
