A predecessor to Jaguar, SS cars (for the company name, Swallow Sidecar) were built from 1931–1940. SS1, the first model, with an underslung chassis, long bonnet and streamlined coachwork, was based on the 16 hp Standard.
This attractive SS1 fixed-head coupé has been recently painted in a lush green hue. The leather seats show slight patination, and there are minor imperfections to the brightwork. The dashboard has original Jaeger metric instruments. Early SS Jaguars are very desirable motor cars and this is a particularly handsome example.
