As a continuity of major French marques such as Delahaye or Facel, the Monica was the result of a dream of Jean Tastevin, director of the Compagnie Française de Matériel Ferroviaire. Thanks to its 285bhp 5.6L V8 Chrysler engine, it was able to drive four people at a brisk pace in total comfort. But the luxurious car could not withstand the oil crisis and only 22 units were made, and just a few have survived until today. Delivered new in 1975 to Cie Albion in Barcelona, a commercial partner of the brand, this Monica was exhibited at the Barcelona Motor Show in May of the same year. It received its first registration in 1977, when it was acquired by a Spanish jeweler, who sold it in 1990 to a collector in the North of France. The latter started a very serious restoration, respecting the car's authenticity, which was completed by the car's next owner. The restoration was entrusted to renowned professionals: a coachbuilder who stripped the body and an upholsterer who retained as much of the original materials as was possible. Air-conditioning, power steering, car radio and instrumentation were all redone and, on the mechanical side, the engine and the automatic gearbox were dismantled and overhauled. As a final touch, the car received a stainless steel exhaust system, and four new Michelin tires, and the restoration was completed in 2015.
